The Farukh Ruzimatov Foundation Scholarship laureates were announced at the welcome ceremony for first-year students in the Vaganova Academy of the Russian Ballet on October 1st 2008. At the ceremony the scholarship laureates of the 2007-2008 academic year Ekaterina Bondarenko, Ernest Lapytov, Victor Lebedev, Sergei Krylov, and Vyacheslav Tyutyukin were awarded with special diplomas.

The scholarship program for students of the Vaganova Academy of the Russian Ballet was established by the Farukh Ruzimatov Foundation ‘The Renaissance of the Dance Art’ with the aim to distinguish and provide social support to talented students of the Vaganova Academy for academic and artistic achievements.
The scholarship nominees are suggested by the Academic Board of the Vaganova Academy and further approved by the Foundation Board of Trustees.
Tatyana Golovina, vice-rector of the Vaganova Academy: ‘None of the ballet schools has given to the world ballet scene such a great number of talented artists as our academy has done. We believe that students who became the Farukh Ruzimatov Foundation scholarship program laureates will multiply the glory of the Russian ballet’.

Daria Kim, art-director of the F. Ruzimatov Foundation: ‘The F. Ruzimatov Foundation Scholarship does not just provide the financial support; in the first place, it gives students a certain status which shows the acknowledgement of their achievements. We follow up attentively how the scholarship laureates make first steps on the big scene and take part in performances of the Mariinsky Theater and the Mikhailovsky Theater’.

Apart from monthly scholarships the laureates will also get the opportunity to participate in meetings with distinguished ballet artists, visit rehearsals, concerts, ballet performances, master-classes and other cultural events in St. Petersburg.
From 2007 the scholarship program has been implemented thanks to the financial support of the BDO Unicon North West Company.
